This course offers a basic introduction to health and Safety for those working in any workplace who require guidance in the procedures required to maintain a safe working environment.  The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace course is ideally suited to those who are starting or returning to work.

THE LEVEL 1 AWARD IN HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE COURSE
THE BASICS.

The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace course offers a basic introduction to workplace health and Safety with a focus on the identification of potential hazards.

WHO REQUIRES THIS COURSE.

The course is recommended as an integral part of an induction programme for new staff members, as most workplace accidents can be attributed to a lack of instruction or poor work practice.

This course is not the course required for a CSCS card application as in such cases a specific Level 1 construction qualification is required.

The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace course can also be used as a valuable part of a school, or other educational program.

COURSE CONTENT.

Consists of 4 core units, concluded by a final exam:

UNIT 1 – HEALTH SAFETY AND WELFARE
UNIT 2 – CONTROL OF HAZARDS AND RISKS
UNIT 3 – CAUSES AND EFFECTS
UNIT 4 – COMMUNICATION OF INFORMATION
COURSE AIMS.

By the end  of the course learners should understand.

  • How the duties of employers contribute to a healthy and safe workplace.
  • The main duties and responsibilities of employers with regard to health and safety as determined by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • How the duties of employees contribute to a healthy and safe workplace.
  • Workplace welfare arrangements.
  • How hazards and risks contribute to workplace risk assessments.
  • The importance of workers following procedures at work.
  • How to use methods for controlling risk in the workplace.
  • The main causes of workplace injury.
  • The main causes of workplace ill-health.
  • The reasons why accidents occur.
  • The effects of accidents at work,
  • The need to report accidents and near misses at work.
  • Safety signs and signals in the workplace.
  • Sources of health and safety information in the workplace.
  • The importance of workers notifying health and safety concerns to their employer.

CERTIFICATION.

On successful completion of the course a high quality CPD Certified certificate will  be sent to you immediately, by email. This can be used to provide evidence of your achievement for compliance and audit.

The certificate confirms that the course you have taken is recognised by the CPD Certification Service as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

Our certificates have unique certificate numbers which can be verified.

INDIVIDUAL LEARNER ENROLMENT  (applies to first time registrations)

  1. Choose the INDIVIDUAL option
  2. Click or Tap ADD TO CART.

  4. On the checkout page enter the Learners’ details.  If the course is being purchased by another party on behalf of a learner, the BILL PAYERS details should be entered here, and once registration has completed the NAME on the account may be amended to that of the learner. 
  5. Choose the payment method and tick the ACCEPT THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS box
  6. PROCEED TO PAYMENT.
  7. Once payment is completed you will be immediately logged into your account and you will also receive an email with your LOGIN details.

MULTIPLE LEARNERS

  1. Choose the GROUP (multiple learners) option
  2. Enter the number of user accounts required in the registration box
  3. Click ADD TO CART.
  4. On the CART page ensure that the number of user accounts required has been correctly entered in the QUANTITY box
  5. Click or Tap PROCEED TO CHECKOUT
  6. On the CHECKOUT page enter the Bill Payer’s (GROUP LEADER) details.
  7. Choose the payment method and tick the ACCEPT THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS box
  8. PROCEED TO PAYMENT.
  9. Once payment is completed you will be immediately logged into your account and you will also receive an email with LOGIN details for your FREE Group Leader account.  Your purchased user accounts may be assigned to named learners from here.

Note. 

  1. User accounts are initially dormant and will not expire.
  2. Group Leaders may assign user accounts to named learners from their control panel.  Login details are then sent to the learner by email, and thereafter course access is available to the learner for a period of 90 days.
  3. Learners will receive individual course access which can be monitored by the Group Leader.
  4.  If a Group Leader wishes to take the course they may add themselves to the existing group.
